Dads Sunrise
Sunrise Estates is a family development, started by our late father Jim Browne, it is the final project he worked on in his lifetime and the achievement of his dream to leave the world better than he found it.
He came to Australia in 1970, with nothing in his pockets but the will to work, build and make something of himself (and 500 pounds he had to borrow from his sister back in Ireland).
Australia gave him a wonderful life, a family and the chance to achieve his dreams. To which he forever felt blessed and grateful for.
He worked digging trenches in Sydney until his sister back in Ireland lent him enough money to buy a machine, and old JBC backhoe, he took that one machine and from that grew it into a construction and agricultural company.
He came to the Northern Territory in 2007 and fell in love with its sprint of adventure that he felt matched his own.
Australia gave him a place to raise his family and the Sunrise project was so special to him because he got to hand on a place where other people could continue their own journey.
His journey in Australia leaves behind his loving wife Diane, a son Tony, and 3 beautiful daughters Michelle, Deirdre and Laura.
He always told his children, ‘I don’t care what you do in life as long as you can look me in the eye and tell me you’re happy’.
As deeply as he loved his adopted home of Australia he was a proud Irishman to his bones and It was his wish to name each block after a County in Ireland, which we have done in his memory. You can keep the name or change it to make it your own journey, but as we pass each block along from our family to yours hopefully his spirit of hard work, adventure, happiness and love will continue on in your own dreams that you build at Sunrise Estates.
